Asymmetric Tri-training for Unsupervised Domain Adaptation

چکیده
Deep-layered models trained on a large number of labeled samples boost the accuracy of many tasks. It is important to apply such models to different domains because collecting many labeled samples in various domains is expensive. In unsupervised domain adaptation, one needs to train a classifier that works well on a target domain when provided with labeled source samples and unlabeled target samples. Although many methods aim to match the distributions of source and target samples, simply matching the distribution cannot ensure accuracy on the target domain. To learn discriminative representations for the target domain, we assume that artificially labeling target samples can result in a good representation. Tri-training leverages three classifiers equally to give pseudo-labels to unlabeled samples, but the method does not assume labeling samples generated from a different domain. In this paper, we propose an asymmetric tri-training method for unsupervised domain adaptation, where we assign pseudo-labels to unlabeled samples and train neural networks as if they are true labels. In our work, we use three networks asymmetrically. By asymmetric, we mean that two networks are used to label unlabeled target samples and one network is trained by the samples to obtain targetdiscriminative representations. We evaluate our method on digit recognition and sentiment analysis datasets. Our proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance on the benchmark digit recognition datasets of domain adaptation.

Deep Unsupervised Domain Adaptation for Image Classification via Low Rank Representation Learning
Domain adaptation is a powerful technique given a wide amount of labeled data from similar attributes in different domains. In real-world applications, there is a huge number of data but almost more of them are unlabeled. It is effective in image classification where it is expensive and time-consuming to obtain adequate label data. We propose a novel method named DALRRL, which consists of deep ...

Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence that is able to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. The primary assumption for most of the machine learning algorithms is that the training set (source domain) and the test set (target domain) follow from the same probability distribution. However, in most of the real-world application...
متن کاملUnsupervised Transductive Domain Adaptation
Supervised learning with large scale labeled datasets and deep layered models has made a paradigm shift in diverse areas in learning and recognition. However, this approach still suffers generalization issues under the presence of a domain shift between the training and the test data distribution. In this regard, unsupervised domain adaptation algorithms have been proposed to directly address t...

This paper presents, for the first time, unsupervised discriminative training of probabilistic linear discriminant analysis (unsupervised DT-PLDA). While discriminative training avoids the problem of generative training based on probabilistic model assumptions that often do not agree with actual data, it has been difficult to apply it to unsupervised scenarios because it can fit data with almos...
متن کاملA Fully Convolutional Tri-branch Network (FCTN) for Domain Adaptation
A domain adaptation method for urban scene segmentation is proposed in this work. We develop a fully convolutional tri-branch network, where two branches assign pseudo labels to images in the unlabeled target domain while the third branch is trained with supervision based on images in the pseudo-labeled target domain. The re-labeling and re-training processes alternate. With this design, the tr...
